Recreational activities such as annual picnic, visits to flower show, exhibitions, movies, shopping, lunch outs, etc., are held to boost the level of functioning of the residents and to build skills that will rehabilitate and restore the sense of well-being. Apart from recreation, they provide opportunity to get exposed to external environment and to develop their social skills.

Outings are encouraged to help residents move out of their ‘amotivation’

Annual Picnic:

It is an activity organized for applying skills learnt at the Center. With adequate preparation, residents of MPA are taken out to scenic sites. A full day outing accompanied by staff is an annual event. Some of the places visited are:

  • Innovative Film City, Bidadi
  • Mysore Palace, Brindavan Gardens, Mysore Zoo
  • Bannerghatta National Park
  • Lal Bagh Flower Show
  • Planetarium, Cubbon Park, Musical Fountain
  • Wonderla Amusement Park
  • Guhantra – The Cave Resort

Once in two months, an experience of a different culinary is provided for all the residents. Vegetarians and Non-vegetarians get to choose from a menu, plan within their budget and taste a meal different to what they get every day at MPA.

Once in two months residents are taken out for a movie. The choice is made as a group. Flexibility is practiced and according to the preferred language of the majority, different movies are seen. This provides scope for learning to budget their expenses as they get an opportunity to decide on travel, purchases, eatables, etc.

Your support in cash/kind for the Long Supported Care Project for mentally ill is solicited.
